Violence Prevention: A Community Bicycle Ride for Peace on Chicago Streets

Saturday, June 25, 2016
Meet 10:30am
Ride 11am

Collins Academy High School
1313 South Sacramento Blvd.

Please join us for this community bike ride in partnership with TRUE Fit, North Lawndale College Prep Basketball, and Build Chicago for a Saturday morning community bike ride for peace on Chicago streets.

"Much is heard about the violence Chicago is affected with to the point that the prevailing narrative across the country is that the south and west side of the city is a lost cause. While it is true that serious problems face these areas, families, coaches, and community leaders are working tirelessly to create opportunities for young people and the community as a whole. To also demonstrate that these communities are simply not an endless cycle of violence, that there is also an immense pool of talent, culture, and kindness.

Slow Roll is one of those community leaders. Week in and week out they organize rides throughout every nook and cranny of the city setting a tone for a positive culture and demonstrating that the activity of cycling is one that can be embraced for not only the benefit of an enriched community, but for better health, transportation, environment, and fun.

Join in on the ride on the morning of June 25th! Pre and post ride gathering starts at Collins Academy/NLCP at 10:30 am, ride starts at 11 am. Bring your bike, bring a friend, bring your family. But more importantly bring an attitude that you're going to make your city a better place. Slow Roll has a limited number of loaner bikes available." - Tommy Schneider
